On May 9, the Sino-German Webinar on Orthopedics was successfully held at Lu'an Hospital of Anhui Medical University (Lu'an People's Hospital of Anhui Province). Prof. Petersen from Martin Luther Hospital was invited to have an in-depth exchange with the local team of orthopedics on knee osteotomy. This webinar was not only for academic exchanges but also established a solid platform for medical education and collaboration between China and Germany. The webinar began with a welcome speech addressed by WANG Qiwei, Hospital President of Lu'an People's Hospital of Anhui Province, and was moderated by DOU, Qiangbing, Head of the Orthopedics Department. In his speech, Prof. Wang emphasized the hospital's commitment to aligning with top international hospitals, actively introducing global high-quality resources, and continuously improving regional healthcare standards for the patients. Prof. Petersen is an internationally leading expert in sports medicine and knee surgery. He is the Director of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology and Deputy Medical Director of Martin Luther Hospital and Vice President of the German-Austrian-Swiss Society for Orthopaedic-Traumatological Sports Medicine (GOTS) for Germany, With extensive clinical and research experience, he has long been dedicated to promoting exchanges in medicine between China and Germany, training multiple Chinese doctoral students and fellows over the years. During the webinar, Prof. Petersen shared his expertise and insights on osteotomy of the knee with cases and expressed strong enthusiasm for deepening Sino-German collaboration. He highly acknowledged the expertise and open-minded approach of the local team and expressed his openness for possible onsite exchanges in Lu'an in the future. After the keynote lecture by Prof. Petersen, ZHOU Liang and WU Mingfan, deputy chief physicians of the team presented two complex cases, sparking lively discussions with Prof. Petersen on diagnostic and treatment strategies. The enlightening and practical atmosphere fully reflects the strong foundation of mutual learning and shared progress between the two sides. Although conducted online, this conference has opened the door for deeper future cooperation. Lu'an People's Hospital of Anhui Province will seize this opportunity to further advance Sino-German medical exchanges to higher levels, exploring more practical development pathways in clinical techniques, education and training, and talent cultivation.
