In the midwinter, I, along with one of our colleagues Kaokao, traveled to Suzhou, an ancient city of China. The 4th Sino-Euro Global Forum on Hospital Management, Speciality Construction and Talent Cultivation will be grandly held from November 16 to 17, 2024 in Suzhou. At night, we had a stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou, which was freshly opened last month and is decorated in a new Chinese style. The hotel is surrounded by Jinji Lake, mountains and waters, and Chinese gardens. The Ligong Causeway is a short walk from it. At noon, I had lunch with Kaokao at Songhelou Restaurant, an old restaurant opened in 1757 and serving authentic Suzhou-style cuisines. In the afternoon, we had a walk to the Pingjiang Road, where Wanguochun Chinese Restaurant, a representative of Chinese cuisines, will be opened next month. The Suzhou Museum, designed by Mr. Ieoh Ming Pei , is like a flowing grand feast. At dusk, we went to the Shantang Street, also known as Seven-Li Shantang. There presents a scenery of antique beauty with the streetlights just lit and small bridges over the flowing stream. We seemed to have traveled back in time to the Tang and Song Dynasties. BAI Juyi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once served as the Prefectural Governor of Suzhou, and wrote a poem, Dreaming of the Southern Shore, for this city. Fair southern shore, with scenes I adore. At sunrise riverside flowers redder than fire. In spring green waves grow as blue as sapphire, which I can't but admire. In the evening, we went to Qushui Lanting Resort Hotel which holds a new-Chinese-style SPA center of 8,800 square meters. When we entered the hotel, both huge wooden doors opened automatically, showing a sense of ceremony. And all kinds of cuisines from the world are served there. When internationally renowned specialists come to Suzhou, they can enjoy the special SPA culture of China. We would introduce Chinese culture to the European key academic leaders who will attend the 4th Sino-Euro Orthopedics Summit in 2024 in Suzhou. Back in the ancient time, emperors, nobles and literati traveled to Suzhou, forming the unique Suzhou culture. Let us meet once in Suzhou, China, while we are alive in this precious world with the bright sunlight and tender waves.
